Viscosity Index Improvers for Lubricating Oils

Changes in temperature, changes the viscosity of lubricating oils. The viscosity of oils decreases as temperature increases. And the viscosity of a lubricant is closely related to its ability to reduce friction.  This change of viscosity with temperature is measured by Viscosity Index.

Viscosity Index Improvers (VII) are oil additives the improves the viscosity-temperature characteristics of oil, making it more stable as temperature changes. VII are widely used in formulating multigrade oils like SAE 10W30 and 20W50.  VII are also known as viscosity modifiers.

Olefin Coplymer (OCP) Viscosity Index Improvers have good shear stability and low temperature properties.  Below is the dosage estimate of OCP Viscosity Index Improver:
