Sunflower and Sweet Almond Blend Massage Oil

This massage oil formulation blends sunflower and sweet almond oils with vitamin E for a smooth, comfortable glide and ease of workability. Formulated with great texture and even penetration.  It absorbs neatly for a non-greasy finish.

Ingredients % by weight

Ethylhexyl Palmitate        5.00

Sweet Almond Oil      15.00

Sunflower Oil      78.80

Vitamin E Acetate        1.00

Fragrance or essential oil        0.20


Instructions:

Combine all ingredients until uniform.


Examples of essential oils:

  • Lavender Bulgaria Oil…………..soothing, sedative, antidepressant, cleansing, relaxing, calming
  • May Chang Oil……………….refreshing, uplifting and stimulating
  • Peppermint Oil………….invigorating and enjoyable scent

  • Chamomile Spa
  • Eucalyptus Herbal Spa
  • Green Tea
  • Vanilla Butter

Massage Oils

Sweet almond oil, sunflower oil, jojoba oil, fractionated coconut oil, apricot oil are some of the popular massage oil that are use alone or in combination. Massage oils are also use as carrier oils in aromathery.

  • Sweet Almond Oil - is slightly oily and absorbed fairly quickly.  People with nut allergies should not use almond oil.  An excellent emollient (softening and sootthing of skin)
  • Aprikot Kernel Oil - a non-greasy oil, similar to almond , and is rich in vitamin E that gives a longer shelf life
  • Jojoba Oil - has a very long shelf life and is very well-absorbed.  It is thought to have antibacterial properties.  An excellent moisturizer.
  • Coconut Oil (fractionated) - a light, non-greasy, very long shelf life liquid oil that is less expensive  than many other oils. Fractionated coconut oil is tends not to stain sheets, a problem with most massage oils.
  • Sunflower oil - is a light, non-greasy oil that won't leave skin feeling oily. It is rich in the essential fatty acid linoleic acid, as well as palmitic acid and stearic acid, all components of healthy skin. Sunflower oil can go rancid quickly, squeezing one or two capsules of pure vitamin E oil into the oil may help to extend the shelf life.
  • Grapeseed oil - a non-greasy oil which is rich in linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that is important for the skin and the cell membranes.  It also contains vitamins, minerals, and protein, and a small amount of vitamin E.
  • Apricot oil - is rich in oleic and linoleic acid. This oil is helpful to dehydrated, mature and sensitive skin because of its moisturising, nourishing, and revitalizing properties.
  • Avocado oil - is used for dry or mature skin and people suffering from eczema, psoriasis or similar skin complaints, and sun or climate damaged skin (dehydrated and under nourished) - it is said to help with the regenerating of the skin and softening of the tissue. 
  • Wheat germ oil - has a high vitamin E content and essential fatty acids, thus it is used extensively in aromatherapy massage blends. It is said to promote a smoother, younger-looking skin, assisting in healing scar tissue as well as stretch marks. When it is applied topically on to the skin it is said to help promote the formation of new cells, improve circulation, and help repair sun damage. It is also used to help relieve the symptoms of dermatitis. This carrier is said to stimulate tissue regeneration and is often added to other blends because of its antioxidant properties. 
  • Hazelnut oil - can help tone and tighten the skin while strengthening capillaries and assisting in cell regeneration.  A good moisturizer.
  • Holy oil - an excellent glide, non-greasy, odourless, hypoallergenic oil.

What Are Carrier Oils? 

Carrier oils are vegetable oils used to dilute the concentrated essential oils, they help to slow down the evaporation of the essential oils and help absorb them into the skin. The carrier oils should be "Extra virgin or cold pressed vegetable oils" for maximum benefit. Some good carrier oils include sweet almond, grapeseed, canola, safflower, sunflower, sesame, wheat germ, olive and peanut oil.
